On Wednesday, June 16, a mini plane crashed shortly after takeoff in the eastern Democratic Republic of Congo, killing all three passengers on board.
According to the region’s governor, the jet was carrying two pilots and a passenger when it crashed close to Kavumu airport, which serves Bukavu, the capital of South Kivu province.
According to a Reuters witness at the crash site, first responders in neon bibs searched through the crumpled debris in the midst of a wide field.
